Point Proposition for Hi-lo; Thoughts?

Ok, so, I was playing Hi-lo and I've come up with a plan that I hope some of you will consider and try for the Hi-Lo game. So, what if you bet a certain number of points, and if you win the first round, you get half your point value, and if you win the second round, you get all your points? If you lose the first round, you lose half your bet from the number of points you originally started with. If you lose both rounds, you lose your whole bet.
So, let's use an example. Say you start out the game with 500 points and you want to bet double that amount, (500 points). You get a 6 and bet higher and lose, but instead of taking all your points, you only lose 250 of your points, so you're left with 250 poins in your account. Then you decide to play again with same bet, and you choose the correct answer, you get 500 points which leaves you with 750 points.
My reasoning:
This system still allows you to win something, it's not a lose-lose situation, you win some and you lose some, and yet there's still that challenge of trying to get as many points as you can but not the free-for-all that was there in the past. I'd love to hear your thoughts, and if anyone has anything to add, please add it. If you don't understand something, let me know and I can explain.

Would you expect a casino to give you half your money if you lose? would you want to bet and only win half your money? While the internet is a vertual world, lets try and keep it a little real please. Make a more objective bet so you don't lose all your points, is my suggestion.

I actually like this suggestion; only winning/losing half your points as opposed to losing it all

i like it brandy, i can see how it would make the game more popular with the users

it sounds good, this way there would actually be a point to the first round!

yeah, the first round is boring now because you have to win 2 rounds to win!

and, if you lose the first round you lose your bet so there is no point to "breaking even"

Yeah, I hope the admins consider this and we can get a chance to try it out. Hi-Lo just isn't fun anymore... (sad face) It WAS one of my favorite games. Now, I hate it.

agree!.

i used to play it a lot to try and win back points, but i've just lost interest now.

plus, what's there to lose. it's better to try something and get feedback, than not try it and get loads of complaints

I would personally just like to see how it would work. If more people would play it and whether or not it's a fair game.

I'd rather just go back to the old way where you get all your points after the first guess if your guess is correct. I used to be able to earn points playing that game, and now all I do is lose.

blah, discussion about pointless points? the points have become pointless after this change, in my opinion.

What is going to happen with these people who have reached the points'ceiling already? I guess there will be around 10 or more persons have reached the maximum amount of points which we can earn as per this site.

In fact, I'm giving my points for those who are asking me and earning it just for fun through high low, though.

Raaj.

I like the idea. the new way seems to cost you many points by lots of ties. I liked the old way better anyways.

I like this idea, I just wish they would bring the old rules back

I personally would rather see the old way, too. But I guess J wants to make it more challenging. I figured this would make it challenging but yet fun, too. I guess it's up to the admins what they wanna do.

Personally, I'm rather fond of the new way. As some say, it makes it more challenging, interesting, and fun. This way, you're not cheating when you have a card that you don't like up for betting, and just going back to the main page, and then back to the game, hoping that you can get a card like a 2 or an ace; something that makes it likelier that you'll cheat and get like 20 billion point sin the matter of 1 minute.
Now back to the basic component; points are worthless, and rarely earn you more than a ranking on the points page. So, I'd suggest keeping high-low the way it is and have some challenge in getting on that ranking page!
Just my thoughts, of course.

I disagree. It used to be challenging, interesting, and fun. Now it's just a pain in the ass. I never, ever, win more than two times in a row anymore and almost always come away with fewer points than I started with.

I have mixed feelings about this. I would much prefer the old way, like many others, but I also like the original poster's idea too. It's sort of a compromise. Still, I think that if you bet all your points, then you should win or lose all your points. If you have to break even before winning in Hi-Lo, then it should be the case for all of the betting games, don't you think?

In response to maddog's post, I think that once you click the "let's play" button, you've made your bet, and if you choose not to play because you don't like the card, tough luck.
